If you like baking cookies for someone special this Valentine Heart Peanut Butter Cookies recipe is an easy one. Not only does it taste good, it’s just so cute with a chocolate heart studded in the center of the cookie.
The cookie itself is peanut butter flavored which really goes well with chocolate. As for the chocolate hearts, they’re widely available in bags of twelve pieces or more. Some of them come in plain milk or dark chocolate. Others have caramel centers, or with crispies. For this valentine cookies recipe I picked the one with caramel centers. Any one of the varieties will work with these cookies. I have tried it with plain dark chocolate hearts and I loved it.
Some recipes for peanut butter cookies call for refrigerating the cookie dough before baking, but I skip that part. I just don’t think it made a whole lot of difference to the overall result of the baked cookie.
Before baking it is important to have enough space between the cookies on the cookie sheet. Place them at least two inches apart. Also, I bake them in two separate batches for 10 minutes each.
After it comes out of the oven, make sure you immediately press the chocolate hearts on the center. Be gentle with the pressing, it doesn’t have to go all the way through the bottom.
What I love about this Valentine heart peanut butter cookies is they’re so perfect to give to loved ones and so easy to make. They’re easy to pack in tin cans, paper boxes or cellophane bags. Then tie a pretty red ribbon on it and voila! Nothing says “I love you” more than a handmade cookie.
