For those of you who haven’t tried to air fry anything, I’m with you. I haven’t tried it before, and I never had an air fryer. Because air fryers are so popular these days, of course, I’m curious. How does an air fried food look and taste like? So I got one air fryer for $50 from someone who was having a moving sale. This is a good deal since it hasn’t been used and still in its original box.
I took it home and started reading the manual. This is not an ordinary air fryer. It looks like a small oven with glass French doors. And there are so many functions it can do. It can roast, bake, warm, air fry, etc.
I thought of different things I can air fry just to start and try it. During this time I already had some marinated whole chicken legs so why not try that. At this point you can easily use whatever marinade you prefer. It’s better to marinate the chicken for 2 hours or even overnight before cooking. Just be careful to stay away from marinades that have a lot of sugar content in it because it might burn easily. What I had is a citrus marinade that the supermarket already mixed with the chicken. Depending on the size of the chicken, I can put 3-4 pieces of whole chicken legs in the basket.
Next I transferred the chicken onto the air frying basket, making sure that there is space between them. Then I inserted the drip tray to catch the messy juices and fat. Above the drip tray I pushed the basket in with the chicken.
Now it’s time to set the temperature at 385ºF for 40 minutes and press the air fry setting. During the cooking process, you will notice the chicken slowly browning and the skin is getting crispy. After 40 minutes it’s ready to eat. The first time I tasted this air fried chicken, I was pleasantly surprised how crispy the skin is. Even the meat inside is still juicy. And all the fat dripped down into the tray. How great is that?
So judging from this experiment, I think I will air fry chicken again. My family loved it, and it was so easy.
