Game Day Three- Bean Turkey Chili

On Game Day you can create a chili bar featuring this hearty, meaty turkey chili combined with a tri-bean blend of pinto, red and black beans.  Serve the trimmings on separate bowls or bake a delicious corn bread to go with it.

For the ingredients, I simply used 93% lean ground turkey, onion, garlic, olive oil, green bell pepper, canned diced tomatoes, chili powder, ground cumin and salt and pepper to taste. For the toppings, you have a lot of options like chopped cilantro, sour cream, cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, chopped jalapeño pepper, avocado, etc.

Make the Turkey Chili

Start with browning the ground turkey in olive oil in a pot.  Next, stir in the onion and let it cook for a few minutes until onion is translucent.  Then add the garlic, canned diced tomatoes, jalapeño, chili powder, and cumin.  Season it with salt and freshly ground pepper to your taste.  Stir everything and cover the pot. Bring it to boil on high heat. Once it starts to boil, lower the heat to simmer slowly for one hour.  After that, stir in the beans.  Cover it again and let simmer for another thirty minutes. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to your taste.  Serve it with assorted toppings like grate cheddar cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, green onions and avocado.

On Super Bowl Sunday this turkey chili will be a perfect, lighter choice for your family and guests. Both adults and kids will love it. Serve it bar style with the toppings served on separate bowls. This way everybody can pick their own toppings.  I also have dessert choices on this site.  Browse and you’ll see delicious and easy smores bars, crepes, banana bread, ginger molasses cookies, berry cake, and whole of other things. I hope you try them and Happy Game Day!
